In today’s #NotBadNew—your homemade masks can now win big and Shakira goes to college.
Welcome to #NotBadNews, our new (and hopefully short-lived) daily column where we round up the good, surprising, and weird things that have happened around the world during this coronavirus pandemic.
An Air-Show of Thanks
The Blue Angels headed to New York City to show their appreciation for the city’s first responders! This Navy flight-crew took to the skies to show their support with thunderous jets and flight tricks.

This thank you can be heard from miles away!
Does Your Mask Make the Cut?
If you think your homemade mask is the best there is, Coney Island wants to see it. New York’s Coney Island Art Center hosting a most-creative mask contest—they want to see the best, the most colorful, the most bizarre. Have you been receiving compliments when you head out on your perfected mask-fashion? If so, enter here to learn once and for all if your mask is truly the best one out there.
This Costume Is Actually Scary
Police in Delhi have a new outfit, and it’s both scary and topical: they’re dressing like COVID-19. Wearing hats shaped like the virus, these corona-zombies are walking the streets of Delhi to persuade you to stay inside.

If we weren’t convinced to stay in before, we definitely are now.
Did the Government Just Give Proof of Alien Existence?
Maybe Fox Mulder wasn’t wrong after all–perhaps the government does know more than they’re letting on. After years of Navy pilots reporting to various sources (most popularly the New York Times) that they’ve been encountering and recording unidentified crafts while in flight, the Pentagon finally released the videos we’ve heard so much about—and they don’t disappoint. We now have three videos of UFO sightings, and if you haven’t checked them out, we would recommend doing so.

While we cannot say what exactly it is we are seeing in these videos or whether or not this gives proof of alien life, we want to believe!
Girls Go to College to Get More Knowledge
International pop-icon and this year’s Super Bowl Half-Time Show performer Shakira is headed to college. With the coronavirus came a break for the busy singer, so she decided to put that time to good use. Once her kids are off to bed, Shakira logs into her online class at the University of Pennsylvania where she’s studying ancient philosophy.
I just graduated from my 4 week Ancient Philosophy course with the University of Pennsylvania (@Penn). I know… my hobbies are very impractical, but it took a lot of hours after the kids were asleep. Thank you Plato and predecessors for all the “fun” over the past month! pic.twitter.com/cFTCXDjliX

A Reunion Sure to Make You Cry
After spending five-weeks in isolation, this dad in South Wales was finally able to return home from quarantine, and someone was more than happy to see him.
A toddler had the sweetest reaction being reunited with his father after five weeks apart amid the COVID-19 pandemic. His father had decided to keep his distance, as he comes into close contact with others daily. https://t.co/kyDTA62djl pic.twitter.com/Tbmh65v4vq
