From a Disney Channel reunion to the virtual choral performance, these are the things that made us smile today.
Welcome to #NotBadNews, our new (and hopefully short-lived) daily column where we round up the good, surprising, and weird things that have happened around the world during this coronavirus pandemic.
A Pet Adoption Without the Cleanup
While bringing home a furry companion might be something we’re all craving mid-quarantine, it’s not super realistic for all. Sure, we all want the fun of the pet, but for some, the responsibility can become a bit overwhelming—that’s where South Dakota’s Butterfly House and Aquarium comes in.
The Butterfly House and Aquarium is giving you the chance to symbolically adopt! Pick either a turtle, stingray, butterfly, or jellyfish, and your adoption money will go towards their care at the museum.
You can now symbolically adopt your @bflyaquarium favorites like a turtle, stingray, butterfly or jellyfish! Get the details here: https://t.co/qeAMBsnD48 pic.twitter.com/70Qyv2ZE2w

And once the aquarium is opened again, you and your family can go visit your adoptee! This gives you the chance to help the museum and animals, appease the kid who keeps asking for a turtle, and never have to worry about walks, food, or clean up.
Hamilton Has Left the Building
And is headed to your TV! The ever-popular Broadway musical that rocketed Lin Manuel Miranda to fame is going to be easier to see than ever before. If you weren’t lucky enough to nab a ticket to the cultural phenomena you’re in luck–because Disney+ is bringing the hit show to us.
It’s only a matter of time…

And If You’re Now Needing Another Musical Number
A graduate student from Brooklyn College set out to unite his classmates and professors during coronavirus, and then the whole idea grew. What was originally going to be a small production grew to be a cast of 300, uniting musicians across the country for a performance of “You’ll Never Walk Alone.”
This small musical number turned into a major production and gave these artists a chance to showcase their talents from home!
The ‘Lizzie McGuire’ Reunion Special
Disney+ reintroduced us to our favorite ’90s and 2000s stars and shows, and after seeing just how much we loved re-watching the shows we grew up on, Disney ordered a Lizzie McGuire reboot.
And to hold us over until then, star of the series, Hillary Duff, rounded up the original cast to remake one of the most iconic episodes.

This table-read is a serious throwback and absolutely hilarious! Watch the cast crack up together as Lizzie and Miranda search high and low to find the perfect starter-bras.
Explore the Savannah From Home
Maybe your safari was canceled or maybe you’re just looking for a way to explore another part of the Earth (any part that’s not your home)–either way, a virtual safari might be your perfect fix.
These online tours have become extremely popular and have been a great help in the classroom! Teachers holding online classes can now point students to these videos as a great extension of certain science curriculums, or just for the animal-curious.
“Particularly in lockdown, this has become incredibly popular.”

These online tours have given people at home the chance to learn about the different animals and environments, all without actually going into and disrupting them. This might be the environmental fix we’re in need of!
