Easy access is not the Getty Villa’s strong suit. Because of the museum’s location and strict admission policies, driving is the only convenient way to visit. You can’t drop by spontaneously, because you must reserve a timed-entry ticket in advance. Admission is free, but parking costs $7 (cash only). Here is the address:
Address: 17985 Pacific Coast Highway
Hours: Open Thurs.– Mon., 10–5
To drive up to the museum, you must be heading north on the PCH, so that you can turn into the Getty’s driveway from the far right-hand lane. You can’t make a left-hand turn into the driveway from the southbound lane of the PCH.
Technically, you could use public transportation to reach the museum: the 534 bus line. These are infrequent and time-consuming, though. A taxi ride from elsewhere in L.A. would be quite expensive. If you arrive by bus or taxi, you must show your ticket or receipt along with your admission ticket. Walk-ins are not allowed.
