Anticipate having to check carry-ons at the gate

Carry-on bags can be no larger than 45 linear inches (the total length, width, and height). Not much will help your case if yours are simply too big or if you and your luggage has been selected for checking because your flight is full and the overhead compartments are stuffed. You’ll probably feel more comfortable cooperating if you’ve put a sturdy luggage tag on your bag and segregated all carry-on no-no’s—including jewelry, medications, and paperwork—in one section of the bag so that they can be easily removed.
