One of San Francisco's most exclusive properties occupies floors 5 through 17 of a skyscraper in the heart of the shopping district. Contemporary art lines the hallways and guest rooms. On cool days, guests gather in the lounge around the fireplace to sip cocktails, or to get insider tips from the city's best concierges.

Room

Given a brand new look in 2018, elegant rooms feature contemporary artwork. Fine linens top supreme beds, all framed by floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking either Yerba Buena Gardens or downtown. A cloud-themed color-scheme allows for relaxation and is complemented by dim-switches on all lights.

Bathroom

All bathrooms have deep soaking tubs and glass-enclosed showers and the city's plushest robes and slippers.

Lobby

Zip up to the fifth floor lobby, where the high ceilings and modern art greet you. The onsite restaurant and bar MKT buzzes with activity, while the central sitting area makes a cozy spot to read or get some work done.

Pool

Guests have access to Equinox's (located on the lower floors) indoor junior Olympic pool.

Spa

Equinox offers a host of spa treatments, including massages and wraps.

Gym

From the contemporary street-level lobby, take the elevator to the vast Equinox, where you have free access to a full-size indoor basketball court and the rest of the magnificent facilities and classes.

Dining

MKT, the hotel's grand eatery, focuses on Northern California's bountiful produce. Large windows overlooking international boutiques on one side and an open kitchen on the other makes great use of the space. The burger is to die for and the eggplant caviar pancake is divine.

Tip Have a busy day planned? Room service lunches can be boxed to go.

Drinking

Craft cocktails rule the menu at the upscale lounge area. On select nights the bar hosts a speakeasy with live music. Order small bites like oysters at the bar.

What's Nearby

Getting Around

Parking rates are quite steep (topping $60 a night). The central location allows guests to walk to a variety of neighborhoods, including SoMa, Union Square, the Financial District, Chinatown, Nob Hill, and the Embarcadero. The Muni and BART train station is just below the hotel, connecting guests with outer neighborhoods and both the San Francisco and Oakland airports.

Restaurants

Fans of Indian cuisine heaved a cheer of delight when the South Bay favorite Amber (1-minute walk) opened in downtown. Their butter chicken is not to be missed. Another choice table to snag is at Liholiho Yacht Club (9-minute walk) where the Cal-Hawaiian food makes even the staunchest food-purest drool.

Bars

Sample local wines at the light-filled Press Room (1-minute walk). Ascend Nob Hill to the Top of the Mark (10-minute walk) for epic views of the city lights, and a strong martini to boot.
