Each year Fodor's 100 aims to celebrate and recognize the most incredible hotels around the world.
We logged nights at more than 5,000 properties in 2013, only a small fraction of which received the coveted Fodor's Choice seal of approval. Our 500 worldwide experts then nominated properties from this already exclusive group.
We narrowed the list based on top marks in service, setting, style and amenities, evaluating whether these properties truly exemplified the best in their destination. For the first time, we also invited travelers to nominate properties for the new Readers' Choice category.
Our 15 staff editors made their final selections, and Readers' Choice nominations were ranked by popularity. The resulting 9 categories reflect the best attributes of these winning 100 hotels.
