The Out NYC
New & Noteworthy

The Out NYC hotel, which has been dubbed the first "straight-friendly" city resort really does feel like a getaway from the big city. Housed in a former motor lodge that's right off Times Square, designers ingeniously turned former rows of parking into bamboo-lined lounges and outdoor film-screening rooms, which the 105 guestrooms peer out upon. A stay features perks like in-room WiFi, breakfast, and access to a large gym, steam room, and sauna complex. The restaurant is focused on seasonal American cuisine, and the thumping XL club onsite is managed by two legends of New York's gay nightlife scene. In addition to an all-night dance party, the enormous space showcases cabaret performances that run the gamut from drag shows to benefit concerts. There's talk of creating an adjacent gay-history museum, but in the meantime the hotel is one of the most entertaining, and welcoming, people-watching hotspots in the city.
