Dressing/Clothing for Women
My husband and I are traveling to Peru for 3 weeks in July. The first 4 days will be spent in Cuzco and Machu Pichu. The rest near Lima.
I'm not quite sure what clothing to wear, so that I still maintain a smart, yet conservative appearance. I'm not quite sure what women usually wear there and what I should be aware of as a foreigner.
For Cuzco I had planned on wearing khakis, short-sleeved tops with fleece outerwear, and walking shoes.
That feels a bit too casual for the city and for my liking. Any suggestions?

Thank you for your suggestions as to what to wear to Machu Pichu and Cuzco. That thread did help.
However, how do women dress in the city? Do you see a lot of women wearing jeans? High heels? Dresses or pants?

Sorry, I thought I covered Lima in my link.
People in Lima dress up more than in the States. Plus, it's always a bit cool as it has its own microclimate. It's overcast and a bit grey, but never rains. I rarely wear jeans, generally wear slacks and a sweater or light blazer. Heels at night, cute flats for sightseeing. Think NY in the fall.

Rivera,
I've learned to blend in as much as poosible. The replies you are getting are right on track. I would recommend not wearing white gyn shoes or baseball caps as they do tend to say "tourist".
In Cuzco & Machu Pichu it was cool at night (November, their spring) but, warm hiking the Inca trail and touring the ruins.
I packed a few long/casual skirts for Lima and wore w/ flip flops.
Enjoy the finger puppets!!
