Paris-Marais Restaurants

We have traveled to Paris often. We stay in th Marais district.

We like restaurants like Le Pamphlet, Dome du Marais, Bofinger, etc. Please provide current restaurant recommendations for the Marais and nearby arrondisements. From personal experience, no websites please.

Thanks.

Anthony

We loved both Gli Angeli, and Chez Anjou. Gli Angeli is Italian with amazing pasta, and Chez Anjou is a real local neighborhood haunt where we found the energy and food to be terrific

Bonjour Anthony,

One of our favorite restaurant is in Le Marais at 31 rue Tiquetonne. The cuisine is classical yet inventine at the same time and their menu is changing with what they bought on the daily marché. Here is a link to the website. Bon appétit.

We will be staying in the Marais again this fall and returning to our favorite restaurant in the area for the 4th or 5th time:

Les Fous d'en Face
Phone: 01-48-87-03-75
Address: 3, rue du Bourg-Tibourg75004 (off rue de Rivoli)
Directions: Metro stop: Hotel de Ville

It is always open. Kind of dark and rustic but artsy too. Really friendly and cozy. We've always had good luck with their duck or rabbit dishes.

A note re luckyluc's recommendation: when I stayed near Les Trois Cochons in the spring I tried several times to get a table on the spur of the moment and was never successful. If you want to eat there you will need to reserve in advance! There is an excellent Italian restaurant several doors down but the name escapes me. I was able to get a table without a reservation, but it fills up quickly. Both these places
are very small.

At the Bastille end of the Marais, near Bofinger and Le Dome, is Au Grain du Sel on rue Jean Beausire. I recommend it highly.

You are right Shellio I did forgot about the reservation. We usally phone Aux trois petits cochons one day ahead and get a table for the next evening.

In the 3ème there is also Chez Oscar for a great couscous or a méchoui, for very little euros. Chez Omar, 47 rue de Bretagne.

Auberge du Jarente on rue Jarente, metro St. Paul. Also the restaurant across the street from it that I cannot recall the name.
Great cassoulet and magret at Auberge. CHEAP.

Hypatia, I've been trying to get to Baracane ever since I read about it 10 or more years ago; maybe this upcoming trip it will happen.

I wish I could remember the name of the restaurant/outdoor cafe in the Marais district which my husband and I ate a delicious lunch of Quiche Lorraine, salad, crusty bread and a glass of wine. It was located around the corner from the entrance to the Carnavalet Museum. I do not remember the name of the street, or the restaurant, but their menu was posted on a blackboard inside.

grandmere, I hope it is still the same. I will see in a couple of weeks.
The owner/manager is so helpful and speaks perfect English but no Americans were there. We were made to feel like locals. The tables are close together and the place is not modern, fancy or upscale but relaxed ..Just a totally French baby bistro ...The food is excellent.I had preserved duck and the creme carmel had a crispy thin crust (just perfect my partner said)..done correctly. It's around the corner from the Place de Vosges (NE corner ).They emailed me to say the weather has improved and they have portable air coolers..maybe she meant fans..haha

On the bd des Filles du Calvaire side: Le Bar à Huîtres, if you like oysters and seafood; le Camelot, rue Amelot, for nouveau bistro cuisine.
Closer to the heart of the Marais: le Coude Fou, rue du Bourg Tibourg; for cooler weather months only: Le Bûcheron, a great pasta restaurant with a double entrance, one rue du Roi de Sicile, one on rue de Rivoli.

Anthony, we are also staunch fans of Le Dôme du Marais and Le Pamphlet.

In addition, three other neighborhood spots in or accessible to the Marais that we enjoyed very much on our spring trip to Paris this year are:

Les Don Juan. 19 Rue de Picardie, 75003. Ph: 01.42.71.31.71 Super Mediterranean fare, minimalist décor, and very nice service. Métro: Filles du Calvaire, Temple. http://www.lesdonjuan.com

Les Jumeaux. 73, rue Amelot, 75011. Ph: 01 43 14 27 00. Small (14 well-spaced tables) bistro with smart contemporary decor and excellent modern bistro fare run by twins. Métro: Chemin Vert

Chez Ramulaud. 269, rue du Faubourg St-Antoine, 75011, ph: 01 43 72 23 29. This is a real find with excellent, traditional bistro fare - arguably the best lamb I've ever had - and slightly shabby, traditional brownish bistro décor. Métro: Faidherbe-Chaligny
