Hey Fodors Posters New and Old!

Hi Everyone!

Before you post, please make sure you have the location of your destination in the heading of your post!

While you may think you are on the Hawaii Forum or the Florida Forum, all posts are dumped under the header of United States. A post entitles "Which Hotel?" will leave us all clueless.

By using the location of your destination, you will get faster and more concise answers.

Happy Travels! x(

Well said. Also if you can not find your post just click on your name - it is not lost and you do not have to start another thread.

And if you have a really long post, like a huge trip report, break it into pieces shorter than 500 words so it doesn't disappear into message never-neverland.

BUT post your second and later parts as replies to the first one, rather than as new messages, so they all stay together.

Another thing -- use spaces in your headers; long strings of characters, even words separated by commas, tend to mess up the board formatting.

Also remember there is more than one city per state so if you put a title of "going to the city, what should I do," expect to get answers that aren't related to the city you're visiting.

I agree, Marilyn!

And if it's a really long post, break it into paragraphs so it's easier to read.

Marilyn - This has been proposed over and over again here. I found this from 2001: <http://www.fodors.com/forums/threads...1&tid=1312784>

I'm not telling others what to do, but I simply don't open a post whose headline is too vague.

But Jed this is offering assistance to new and old posters. Most posters do not realize that their Washington dC post is going to be listed on United States. They then repost the same message again trying to correct the problem.

Fodors could possibly put more concise directions for posting on the screen name site. That should be a good place to assist any and all posters.

Hi, Marilyn!

Thanks for the welcome back message! That thread got swallowed up in the archives before I could get around to answering you!

No trip report! Too long! Besides, there is a person who monopolizes the China thread - makes for a singleminded approach to a complex country.

I'm with you and GoTravel, let's top this message every Monday!

Can we add the Title of 'Is It Worth It' to the list?
First of all, what is worth it to me is most likely not worth it to you.
What is worth?
How does one measure the worth of a place?
What if we said NO ? would you change your mind? How would you know if we weren't saying that it was worthless just to keep everyone out of somewhere so wonderful?
See what I mean?
It would be worth your while to post a Precise and Clear title involving your question..
Thank you veddy much, Scarlett

The same goes for people looking for "affordable hotel rooms"! What may be affordable to me would be around $75 - $125 a night, that might be too much for others!!

Oh yeah, thought I would wave hello to the group after my long absence!! I'm in the middle of switching jobs and moving to Long Island with the BF!! (Ironically the new job is 8 blocks north of the old one in Manhattan!!)

Good luck on the job and the move

Thanks, Scarlett, and no unfortunately, not near the beach, but who needs that when you have a pool and a jacuzzi at our disposal in the backyard and central air, gas and electric, cable, internet, washer/dryer and a dishwasher included??

To my BF's credit, it's his 2BR apt in Smithtown (by Commack) and I will have to pay 3x the amount I'm paying for transportation, but it will be worth it!!

The downside is my Las Vegas / San Diego trip is now on hold until who knows when!!

I sorta know where Smithtown is, but the upside is, you are that much closer to Montauk and the North Fork. After Labor Day, go out to the LI Vineyards and take the ferry to Shelter Island..sigh~
We are very homesick this week
