ZipCar

Has anyone used a zipcar just for a week long trip somewhere? I was thinking of using it as an alternative to flying. Just curious if anyone has used the service, and if it is worth it?

Wouldn't it be cheaper to rent a car then use Zipcar, which has higher per-hour costs because it is meant to be used for just a couple of hours and not an entire week?

I see them in my area, but haven't used them. However, a check of their website shows various annual and application fees ($75) and daily fees of around $60 per day. Wouldn't it be cheaper just to rent a car, especially if you can use discount codes or through Priceline?

Zip car is meant for short term "borrowing" within a neighborhood or city and not for long distance over the road. I think thir conract stipulates that.

Just rent an Avis, Hertz or whatever.

yeah after posting this, I did check out the fee for signing up, and yes the hourly prices are way higher. Sorry about that, should have checked the site before posting here. Avis it is!
