Zion walks
 

How are the walks/hikes in Zion? Talking about the easy ones like Weeping Rock, pools, etc. Heard that Weeping Rock is not for those sacred of heights. So I would be out then, but desperately want to experience the "guts" of the park and not just do a drive through. Thanks.

The Canyon Overlook hike is one of my favorites...it starts right at the far side of the tunnel (look for the sign). The only tough part is at the beginning, which you can see right away...you have to use handrails to hoist yourself up. After that, it's smooth sailing and not scary. It's not a long hike either. You know when you've reached the end...all of a sudden you'll have THE most spectacular view of the park.

I agree with Suzanne about Canyon Overlook. Try and do it early in the day. There are one or 2 dicey spots that my (scared of heights)wife made it through. She did Weeping Rock on her own as my son and I did Hidden Canyon (not recommended for you or her) and she had no problem with it. Emerald pools is a easy/doable hike as is the front end of the Narrows (paved, wheelchair accessable) up to the point of going into the river.

Whatever you do, wear hiking footwear and carry a decent amount of water.

Even for someone afraid of heights, there's nothing I can see that would be scary about the Weeping Rock hike. I'm wondering if it's being confused with a different one.

Riverside walk will be very good. At Weeping Rock you can see the hike from the parking area and decide for yourself. I don't think it should be a problem. Lower Emeral Pool is good, but I don't know if you would like middle and upper pools. There is a little hike from the Grotto area to the Zion Lodge that's is very easy and level. There's also the Pa'rus Trail
is easy and follows the Virgin River near to the Visitor Center.

I would NOT do Hidden Canyon or Angels Landing if you don't like heights!

You will be able to see a lot of the park from your car or the free shuttle buses, but get out at each stop just to enjoy.

I just re-read what I wrote and wish to clarify.

Weeping Rock, Emerald Pools and Narrows have zero issues for those with a fear of heights. Canyon Overlook has a challenging spot or 2 but is by no means scarry. My wife is very glad she did all the above.

Hidden Canyon is a challenging hike and should NOT be undertaken if you have a fear of heights.

Those are the ones I have first hand experience with, there may be others that are height fear friendly as well. By all means get out into the park and wander!
