Sprio,
I think they do it. If not them, someone else guides. Yes, it's part canyoneering, part hike. 9 mi. one way, then a car shuttle. Permits required. It's not for everyone, but I think you would really enjoy it. Hard choice with only 2 days. The Subway would take almsot a full day. The other hikes are awesome too. |
I didn't think any guiding was allowed in Zion. I would like to do The Subway, but with only 2 days will probably save it for another visit. I hate to rushed for time, but we had free airlines tickets and my wife and daughter are out of school for a couple of days, so we thought 2 days going somewhere better than staying at home.

Narrows - we hiked/waded 4 hours up the canyon, and got to some pretty spectacular parts. One noteworthy point is the intersection of the Virgin River with Orderville Canyon. A creek flows in here. This is about 2.5 hours from the start of the Riverside Walk. Go beyond this for another 1.5 hours and you'll see the deepest parts of the Narrows.
The 4 hour walk up, took only about 2 hours on the way back, walking with the river and not stopping for photos. |
