"Death Valley National Park announced that starting October 1, 2014 through March 31, 2015, all access to Zabriskie Point and surrounding areas will be closed for major rehabilitation work to the site. Contractors will be on site to repair unstable support walls and improve safety conditions. Currently, the walls are deteriorating to the extent that they pose a danger to public safety."
Always a good idea to check the National Park Service websites, especially for Death Valley. http://www.nps.gov/deva/parknews/zabriskie-point.htm |
Thanks for all the advice on Death Valley. Will definitely add it to my list!
I looked at Mesquite as an alternative to North Las Vegas, but it's too far to travel having just arrived from Ireland. Any other suggestions a bit nearer to NLV? Thanks for all the help! |
It's an hour or hour:15 drive on the freeway that has a 75 mph speed.
If that is too much I would just find a place in Las Vegas. We have stayed in NLV but it felt so sketchy we took everything out of the car! Maybe someone else has another thought. Sorry! |
We did the same as mlgb and had the same impression of North LV. Look for one of the hotels off the strip that has easy access to the hwy.

Just got back from North Rim last week.

Vaga, thanks for the info on the cabin numbers. I've checked our reservation but there isn't any number on it. It does say partial rim view. Whatever that means!

Partial view mean a peek
This site identifies cabin differences http://grandcanyonforever.com/lodging/ I have a layout of each/ever cabin location which I can send to you. IF you want to publicize your email address. Call/email them for a cabin number! North Rim concessions are closed now, but the reservation system should be operating. Check your reservation confirmation sheet. |
