Zion Narrows

For our Utah National Parks trip, one very attractive hike seems to be the Zion Narrows. We are not big hikers, however, I think we might enjoy this.
I am only hoping that we can get a tase of if by only going up the river for maybe 1/2 or so. Is this possible?
How long into the canyon would we have to hike to get to the 'narrow' section?
Utahtea, your pictures there are great (that's the reason I want to get there) - how long into the hike were you there? I assume the way back is following the same river, in opposite direction. Is that true?
Thanks

If you start from the end of the Riverside Trail, you can walk as far as you wish up the Narrows, and won't be committed to doing more than you can manage. You start getting a feel for the Narrows and start getting away from other hikers in just a few hundred yards.

You can turn around at any point. 2 hours would give you a good flavor for what is, usually, an overnight trip.
Tip: start as early as you can. Despite the fact that you are walking, for the most part, through water, it gets REALLY hot in there.

Thanks all. That's what we'll do, travel up the river for 1-2 hrs, than come back. I can't wait!!
