Zion/Bryce Lodgint

I have three nights to spend between Zion and Bryce, currently booked into a cabin at Zion for one night, and a cabin in Bryce for the next two. After reading some threads, maybe 2 nights in Zion would be better spent? Also, has anyone stayed in these cabins? The Desert Pearl looks very nice, are they comperable to that?

Recently stayed four nights at Zion Lodge cabins and one night at Desert Pearl. (Have never been to Bryce.) The Zion Lodge cabins and Desert Pearl are very different. The Zion cabins' exterior "historic" character has been maintained and they are in a spectacular location. You can do several of the popular Zion N.P. walks by starting right at your door without using your car or shuttle (depending on time of year.) Angel's Landing and the "Three Sacred Pools" are right there. When we were there deer and wild turkeys were roaming the grounds. The cabins have been updated inside and are quite comfortable. Desert Pearl rooms are much larger and have more light. They also have more places to sit, including a couch. (Our room at Zion had one comfortable chair next to the gas fireplace and one straight back chair.) Good distant views, but you are in the town of Springdale, so not quite the atmosphere as in-park lodge.
The food at the Zion Park Lodge is not very good. (Particularly bad are the box lunches provided to you to take on your hike.) Dinner was mediocre, but expensive. Breakfasts are acceptable. In Springdale there are a couple of acceptable restaurants within walking distance of the Desert Pearl, but don't expect too much. About a mile west of Springdale is a place that makes good to-go lunches. I forget the name, but it is in an apple orchard.

I think you should spend more time in Zion. Zion is much more varied. We stayed at Best Westerns in both parks.

I would spend two nights in Zion and one in Bryce, but if you don't want to have to change your plans you can always spend most of the second day in Zion and then drive to Bryce late in the day.

Utahtea

Make the switch to 2/Zion and 1/Bryce. Last April, we spent 3 nights at Zion and 2 nights at Bryce. There are so many more hikes and areas to explore at Zion! For proximity and convenience (esp for the sunrises), stay in the parks! As far as the restaurants are concerned, the others are correct...not very good! However, the breakfasts are OK, and for dinner at Zion, drive a few miles into Springdale to eat at Zion Pizza & Noodle. When at Bryce, save time and just eat there for one night. Have a great time!

You don't say what time of year you are making this trip. If it is anytime between now and spring, Bryce will be very cold.

At any time of year I would recommend spending more time at Zion; there is much more to see and do both inside the park and in the town of Springdale.

I returned last week from an 8-night stay at the Desert Pearl Inn, which was just delightful. We made a day-trip to Bryce, which we very much enjoyed, but one day was sufficient, whereas 7 days in Zion was not too much.

Did 1 in Zion and 2 in Bryce last summer. It was fine. From Bryce, it is a short drive to Kodachrome State Park which I think is worth an afternoon. In Bryce, take the hike to Mossy Cave (you access it from the trailhead on the road to Tropic, which would also be on the way to KSP)
