Hi Myer, I joined Flickr. I meant to spend a little bit of time on it this a.m., but it took a while to join and post. I put Bryce photos on it, just for you! Please have a look, but after all my work, you must say only nice things. I told you I'm awful w/a camera!
I have always used my .mac acct. as I said before for posting pics, so I had to learn something about Flickr to do it. Here's the link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/8012375...7602814138725/ Well, let's give it a try. LOL, hope it works. Actually, I'm glad to have joined it, as occasionally I do want to share photos w/people besides my family. |
Hey, these are pretty good!!! After seeing your Central Park photos I wasn't too optimistic. But these are good.
Yes, it hasn't changed much since I was there. Can't wait for the rest. |
LOL! :-)
Now that I have the hang, I'll put some more up when I get a little time. LOL, I took the worst ones out, but I didn't get all the repeats. I often take three pictures of the same person or view to be sure I'll get a decent one. =:) Happy Halloween! DD is still going out (at 15 yrs. old). |
and 1 year old granddaughters (2 of them) will be stopping by in costumes.
Happy Halloween. Don't feel bad about filtering photos. That was the hardest part post-trip. Writing the report was easy. I had almost 700 photos from my one-week trip to Bryce, Zion, etc and ended up with 117 on my web site. A lot of hard work. |
Good report
I too am soaking up information for a trip next year. Love the citrus milo web site, still gathering info for trip next year and this looks good Hilary |
Just in case anyone noticed:
<i>Me: "I don’t have my pictures organized and posted yet since I just got back, but I’ll post some when I do."</i> I just realized that what I wrote first didn't square w/what I wrote later about Flickr, etc. - unless you know that Devon and I have been friends for many years. We lived in the same neighborhood growing up and were best friends as kids. We still are, although we now live far apart. Anyway, she has a pass to my .mac account. I guess it's pretty obvious? :-) <i>Devon: "I enjoyed your report. It was just the right length for easy reading and information gathering."</i> See what I mean? (smile) |
Sorry - I meant don't go down Queen's Garden and up Navajo Loop. I had to stop fairly often so I could breathe. :-)

Hi. I finally got to posting the Zion photos. That was a lot of work! Link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/8012375...7602832111243/

thanks for the photos! There were some good ones in there! I will open them up again to show my daughter the deer (she is a softy for them).
The Narrows were interesting to see what you all were talking about. That looks amazing to do. |
The Narrows photos mostly didn't come out as they were too dark. Someone told me to take the pics w/out a flash so that's what I did, and I did get a few.
We also took a ride out to Coral Pink Sand Dunes. There are a few photos of the park. I wouldn't make a special trip there, but the sand dunes were cool. It is also a place to rent and ride ATVs, which might be fun, but there isn't much to do at the park otherwise. It is also a place for recreational vehicles to rent. Since I now have so much practice with Flickr, I added some photos of Desert Pearl Inn. Link: http://www.flickr.com/photos/8012375...7602836475669/ |
Claire,
You have a lot of great shots!!! I'm impressed. It is correct that you should not use a flash in scenery. That's because your flash only goes about 10-12 ft. You can use a flash for people in the foreground. That's called "fill flash". For the dark ones. I don't know if you were able to control ISO (sensitivity) or if the camera attempts to on its own. In any event, unless they are totally, totally black with no detail, don't give up on them. We may be able to salvage them. Or at least improve them. Also, you'll notice on some photos everything looks great except something (such as a mountain in the background) is very light or blown out because of the sun shining. Those can also be improved a fair amount. Don't give up on that either. I can possibly help with those. |
Wow! Beautiful photos. You have a good eye (and a good camera?). Zion looks stunning. We drove through the park once on our way to Las Vegas from Lake Powell. (Can you still do that?) We didn't know what to expect. Needless to say, we were awestruck. I hope we can go back one day with DS - maybe combine it with a Colorado rafting trip.
Thanks for taking the time to post the photos. It's hard to imagine a landscape that could be any more different than Maryland (or Tennessee). |
Claire,
You took some great shots. I spent less than a minute on one of them. I was at the exact same place as the sun was setting. Just beautiful!! I hope you don't mind. Original: http://www.travelwalks.com/back/claire_1.jpg After: http://www.travelwalks.com/back/claire_1_pp.jpg |
Thanks Myer. Very cool. How did you do it?
|
Claire,
I did a few things but what you see the most is: a) a darkening of the very, very bright areas (mostly the mountains in the back and some other glary areas) b) lightening a bit in the very dark areas. c) a bit of sharpening. To do these you would either need Photoshop or Photoshop Elements or some equivalent program. |
