But I kept telling myself there are no mule carcasses at the bottom of the canyon and they would not be doing this if there were!

Did you notice the very large vultures riding the updrafts? aka condors.... and the population is apparently thriving... them big birds can pick a carcass clean quite quickly....just sayin'

I'm heading to Zion & Bryce April 10 - 14th with my youngest for her senior year trip. Thank you for all of the suggestions! We're at the Bumbleberry Inn in Springdale and then Best Western Plus Ruby's Inn. Finishing it off with a couple of nights in Vegas before we fly out. Other than the Grand Canyon, what else would you recommend out of Vegas? I've been to Hoover Dam and driven through Red Rocks, so those are a couple of options. I'm not sure what else is out there. Thank you!

Are there different purveyors of mule rides in Bryce, or just one through the Bryce licensee?

Two of the best hikes in my life were Angels Landing and the Narrows. As mentioned before, Narrows might not be available that time of year.
