Your most ROMANTIC weekend trip!
What would you consider to be the most romantic weekend trip? This might be a trip you have taken or one you are dreaming of taking. This thread could also serve as a great quick print list for the significant other in your life.;-)

Natchitoches, Louisiana, during the Christmas Season.
We arrive Friday evening at the Judge Porter House B & B where we'll spend 2 nights in the Judge Porter Room. Enjoy a romantic, candlelit dinner catered just for 2 in the dining room, then return to our 2 person Jacuzzi tub where wine, glasses, our favorite chocolates (candies and fondue), strawberries, and rose petals await. Arise the next morning for the scrumptious gourmet breakfast, then begin the drive to the Kisatchie National Forest. Pull out a copy of Kate Chopin's The Awakening and read excepts previously selected from the text. Make our way to Cloutierville, where we stop to visit the Kate Chopin Museum, located in the home she shared with her husband, and where it's rumored she carried on an illicit affair which may have inspired her ground-breaking novel. After that stop, continue on to the national forest overlook where we'll have a picnic lunch while enjoying hilltop views, hikes, wind in our hair and sunshine on our cheeks (pun intended). That afternoon, drive back to Natchitoches for the Christmas festivities. Take the carriage ride around town and hear about the town's exciting history, then walk along Cane River where we'll sample meat pies and funnel cakes while watching the fireworks and seeing hundreds of Christmas lights reflected in the river. Then we'll have a nice dinner at The Landings on Front St (on the balcony if it hasn't grown too chilly) and return to the B & B for another romantic evening in our lovely room. Depart Sunday morning after another great breakfast.

I can't believe you are talking about the Judge Porter House B&B--I'm headed there on Friday! My husband and I will be celebrating our anniversary this weekend and are also having our first trip away from our son. It's been a rough few months, so we're looking forward to a romantic get-away and are hoping to get a lot of rest and relaxation. I'm just so excited to hear such nice things about this B&B. We attended college at LA Tech and used to visit Natchitoches for the day during the Christmas Lights Festival, but this is our first trip to a B&B there. We're really looking forward to it. Sorry to get off topic, but I was just surprised when I read your post!

As unlikely as it seems it was in Missouri. A German town called Hermann in the Missouri wine country .I think about 3/4 the town is on the Historical Register. It is so charming and the wineries are from the late 1800's so wonderful cobblestone and such. There are nice B&B's there and my favorite restaurant called the Vintage located at the Stonehill Winery. Wonderful food fantastic setting. I only say unlikely because it seems many folks who have never been there think Missouri has nothing to offer.

The Coeur d' Alene Hotel, Idaho.. December 31st, 1987... can't remember the meal(multi course), or the exact details.
However, the maid still sends me therapy bills and her postmark is always changing....
Kauai, Scottsdale Az.,Maui, Big Island Hi.,Leavenworth Wa.(Enzian hotel in winter), Port Townsend Wa.,Seattle, Gold Beach, Ore., Homer, Alaska,(Aalskan Suites), Santa Barbara, Buellton Ca., San Francisco, Las Vegas(yes really), Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta so far.. hmm, I could list other local places, but if we didn't stay in a hotel, would it count?
One foggy night on the beach..

Lee4, our youngest child will start at La Tech this fall . . . we'll be empty nesters soon! You'll love the B & B! You could still bring The Awakening and tell your husband about Cloutierville!;-) Have fun!!!!

I hope your child loves La Tech. To this day, it remains one of my favorite places of all time. I had a wonderful college experience there and thought Ruston was such a great small town. Thanks for the ideas on The Awakening! I must admit, I am really looking forward to the breakfasts at Judge Porter House--they sound delicious on the menu on their website.

Lee4, you are going to have a wonderfully romantic weekend! Judge Porter House is extremely nice and the breakfasts are terrific! The owners also have 2 other B & B's in Natchitoches, so ask if you can go see them, too. We've stayed at the Queen Anne, which is beautiful, too, but can't remember the name of the other property. Enjoy!

The first overnight, away from home trip I made with my wife, some 20 years ago, was to Sante Fe and Taos, New Mexico. I told her what she needed to pack and for how long we would be away but she didn't find out where until we got to the airport. Talk about "cloud nine", we drove into the mountains and there were low clouds and we actually drove through them and above them. We were driving looking at the top of the mountains and all we saw below were the clouds. It was like driving in heaven.

A small B&B in Lake Geneva, WI. The room had it's own huge juccizi tub.
It was our anniversary and September has got to be the most beautiful month in Wisconsin. We drank wine and ate brie and french bread while in the tub. Then we dressed and walked around town. It's a lovely place and the weather was perfect (as it so often is on our anniversary - September 19).
We ended up borrowing a movie from the B&B collection and watching it that night in our room while shipping champagne and considering another go in the tub. I meant a soak!
Maybe it was the fact that the kids were still small and this was really a get away, but that is one of my most fond Anniversary weekends!

Paris - a long Memorial day weekend that the beau planned secretly after we had been seeing each other about 4 months. It was a wonderful 4 days of pampering - chauffered limo at the airport, quiet suite at the Crillon, and absolutely nothing but sleeping late, wandering, visiting old favorites, relaxing and poking into new squares and shops.
Naturally he had to tell me a couple of days in advance - but he had worked wonders with my admin in clearing my calendar for 2 whole days (granted easier around a long weekend). When I said great idea but too busy and he said "it's all taken care of" I knew he really was the man for me.

Since we were dealing with my sick elderly mother for many months, my dear sweet husband planned a "kidnapping" to New Orleans a year ago in December! What a surprise! We live in Baton Rouge but ANY surprise planned getaway is so special! He arranged the babysitters for our children and just told me to pack an overnight bag for an escape! I didn't know where we were going but it didn't matter. The fact that he thought enough to make this a special one night adventure was all that I needed! We headed south down I-10 so I suspected New Orleans. We existed on St. Charles Avenue and headed for the Quarter, but we turned left on Canal Street, arriving at the Ritz Carlton Hotel. How exciting!! We spent the afternoon in the Quarter walking around and then a special dinner at Irene's where my best friend just "happened" to drop by! What a treat!
The next morning we strolled around and ate breakfast at a fun hole-in-the-wall spot. He announced that we had several more surprises in store. We had lunch at Audubon Park golf course, then drove to Magazine Street where I was treated to the works at Belladonna. We then had dinner at Joey K's, an all time favorite!
We were only gone 24 hours but it felt like a life-time. What a special treat and surprise from my special sweetie who felt that I deserved a little adventure! I have thought about this many times since and it really didn't matter about how many things that he did for me that day...it definitely was the thought that counted!

Valentines day at the romantically rustic Kilauea Lodge (in Volcano Village) on the Big Island of Hawaii. After a beautiful dinner and passion fruit margaritas in front of their stone fireplace, we drove down the Chain of Craters road where, at a distance, the lava spills into the sea. The sky was filled with a gazillion stars, the salty sea air misted our faces and the smell of lava wafted around us. It was a sensory experience that we will never forget!

Hubby took me on a romantic weekend get away to the Hotel Caleta on the Rock of Gibraltar. It was beautiful and sat right at the bottom of the Rock, directly overlooking the water.
We would get up in the a.m. and have continental breakfast, tour around the city early in the day and then went back to lounge by the pool, shower, change and then had a romantic dinner. Went back to the room where we had some wine and sat out on the balcony looking out over the water and at all of the lights shining off the coast of Africa.
The next day, started the same, only we toured the Rock itself and took a boat tour around it. After our pool time, shower, etc., we went into town to a very nice romantic restaurant and then strolled the streets before heading back to our room.
That weekend went by way too fast.
