Your most romantic weekend getaway

Well, I've finally landed my first "real" job... lol and because of it, my vacation time will take forever to accrue, but I'll finally have the disposable income to make more trips, even if they'll be inherently limited at first to weekend expeditions.

So, what I wanted to know were what are your most romantic weekend getaway trips - anywhere in the country. I'm looking for some ideas to "surprise" him with this fall & winter.

Thanks in advance!

I am bold enough to say that I am not the most romantic of guys. But the most romantic vacations,if that is what I would refer to it as,was in Napa valley. This means the right resort/spa,restaurants and stay away from overcrowded wineries.

But then again,New Orleans was a very romantic trip as well,so you can see where my prioroities are. ;-)

That's all well and good.... my husband and I LOVE New Orleans....

I'm looking for the least touristy areas possible, but towns and cities with real character of their own...

We're both photographers so we love to take lots of pics, and love anything that's a bit unique.

Congratulations!
If wine country is on your list, I'd suggest the less crowded and more pleasant town of Sonoma and Sonoma Valley.

Also I highly suggest Montreal -- easily reached for a weekend but worlds away in terms of feel, food, culture, and of course language.

And nothing is as romantic as a weekend in New York City. Catch a show, walk in Central Park, Fifth Avenue, a harbor cruise etc etc. I love New York!

My boyfriend and I went on a romantic trip to Asheville, NC. We stayed at a beautiful B&B by the name of The Beaufort House. It was quite and nice. The scenery was fantastic. We took a tour of the Biltmore House and drove to quaint places to eat. Loved it!

The most romantic trip my fiance and I took was for a long weekend in the New England region for the fall foliage...the weather is cool and crisp and the colors are unbelievable.
