Your favorite spots along the Mohawk Trail?
 

Care you share with us which are your favorite spots along the Mohawk Trail; and why?

It can be an attraction, a scenic lookout, a state park, a garden, a historic house, a restaurant, a B&B... etc

Is Williamstown on the Mohawk Trail? It is a pretty little town and has much to offer, including a wonderful Art Museum and a great summer theater festival..

I've heard of the Mohawk river but never the Mohawk trail. I looked it up out of curiosity - it's basically a scenic drive in western Massachusetts through the Berkshires & surroundings.

I'm thinking it's a pretty obscure name for the region - you may get a more replies if you ask the same questions but call it the Berkshires, yk.

The overlook near the NYS border at the top of the Taconics; Mount Greylock near North Adams; DO NOT miss the Bridge of Flowers in Shelburne Falls; Turners and Millers Falls are also beautiful if there's been lots of rain. I went swimming in Walden Pond for the first time ever last September, too, and the park there is great.

Lots of historic stops, too, if you are interested in that sort of thing. Greenfield is a great little town to shop and find a good restaurant for lunch. Shelburne Falls has some lovely art galleries and a restaurant right on the river, too.

I may never take the Mass Pike again......

Historic Deerfield a little to the south off I-91 is also very interesting--I always like to drive along the beautiful main street. And nearby Sugarloaf Mountain in South Deerfield has great views of the Ct River valley. You can hike or drive up

Has anyone been to the Poet's Seat Tower in Greenfield?

Keep the ideas coming!

I have spent a lot of time in the area just south of Greenfield (my mother's family is from Conway, a small town up in the hills on Rte 116) but have never gone to the Poet's Seat Tower. I don't think Greenfield has a lot of charm and would concentrate on towns on the trail farther to the west if you don't have much time.
