Your favorite restaurant near the Hyatt Regency in Boston?
 

With your help I am giving my friends a list of restaurants I have seen recommended here, but can you help with one not far from the Hyatt? One night they may just like to WALK somewhere.

There will be two families with "college age" (even older than that!) kids, so perhaps an additional pub/ bar for them later on would be cool.

Any cuisine preferences? Any price preferences?

There are tons of restaurants nearby that's within walking distance.

Chinatown is practically next door. Peach Farm is good, as well as the shabu-shabu places (cook-your-own hot pot). for Vietnamese, try Xinh Xinh (no frills), and for Malaysian, try Penang. Two taiwanese places that are good are Gourmet Dumpling House and Taiwan Cafe. Montien for Thai.

Around the corner from the hotel on Kingston Street is Kingston Station. Good food at good prices. A bit hopping on Thurs/Fri for happy hour and dinner. It also serves a good Sunday brunch.

A few blocks north is Bina Osteria, relatively new and gets lots of good reviews. I have not been.

A few blocks south is Pigalle and Avila. Pigalle serves French and Avila is mediterranean.

For pubs/bars, there's Silvertone, Intermission Tavern, Jacob Wirth. You can google all these names and they all have their own websites.

When are your friends coming? If they're here in mid-late March, they will be here during Boston's Restaurant Week.

In any case, where they're staying is so convenient that options are endless.

I really like the Ivy and Teatro. Ivy is within very short walking distance, Teatro is slightly further.

Also, I haven't been yet, but Bond at the Langham Hotel is quite the hotspot right now.

Thank you. This should be plenty to add to my already long list. They will probably only pre-arrange one or two meals during their short stay early April, but since there are 9 of them I am encouraging them to make a dinner /lunch reservation here and there.

Brunch as Kingston Station sounds OK. Anyone know of a good brunch buffet under $20 ?

I am sending them to the top of the hub for SOMEthing.. maybe drinks and jazz, or dessert and coffee. Is that walkable?

I am really interested in that Penang restaurant for myself! We just got back from Malaysia and would LOVE to try that out our next trip to Boston (which is in May!)

The Blue Room in Kendall Sq Cambridge has an excellent brunch buffet. My sister-in-law raves about it nonstop, and you need to go hungry, ie, eat very little the night before!

I would not eat any real food at Top of the Hub. But I guess a drink is okay there. It'll be a long walk. Much faster if they jump on the Green line for a few stops.

Of course, if your friends are adventurous, they can easily go for dim sum in Chinatown as Sunday Brunch. The 3 dim sum restaurants I would recommend there is China Pearl, Hei La Moon, and Windsor dim sum. Much cheaper than any brunch places you can find in the city.
