Your Favorite B&B and Fall Scenic Routes

I am just beginning to plan a fall trip for my husband and I to Vermont and New Hampshire; looking go in October. Since we have never been to the New England area I really need some suggestions of quaint towns to visit, scenic routes to drive to see foliage and/or mountains, great B&B's to stay at, and any other suggestion you would like to offer.
I love going to arts and craft festivals, seeing old Victorian homes, covered bridges, and real Americana. Please help me make this trip a great experience and one I would want to repeat again.
Thanks!

I am sure you will get plenty of suggestions further North in New Hampshire so I will suggest the Monadnock Region in the Southwest corner of the state. It's not nearly as crowded known as the Undiscovered Corner of the State, it has fantastic scenery (including home to Mt Monadnock (the most climbed mountain in North America) and some of the most quintessental New England towns in the state including Walpole, Harrisville, and Peterborough among others.

The entire town of Harrisville is on the National Historic Register. Peterborough, which was named one of the Top Ten Coolest Small Towns in the U.S., is known as "Our Town" because it was the inspiration for Thornton Wilder's classic American play "Our Town".

Driving Tours: Although there are plenty of different routes you can take, here is one put together by Yankee Magazine (based in the region). It is certainly a good starting point: http://www.yankeemagazine.com/nhtour/monadnock.php.

Outside of Keene, the region is dominated by B&Bs. Check out www.nhlodging.org which is a Monadnock Region B&B Association page.

There is also a Covered Bridges Tour just South of Keene. Check out this site here for a description of the tour http://southwestnh.com/outdoors/bridges.html.

As far as Arts and Crafts, the Monadnock Region is famous for its arts, just check out this art driing tour created by the NH Division of Travel & Tourism: http://www.visitnh.gov/uploads/itine...-arts-tour.pdf.

Depending on when in October you plan to come, there are several Art Tours including the
Annual Open Studio Art Tour http://www.monadnockart.org/art-tour.php and
Wool Arts Tour http://woolartstournh.com/
