YOUR FAVORITE ACTIVITY
What was(is) your favorite activity in Maui and/or Kauai and if it required booking, where did you book it.
|
On Kauai a Napali Coast boat tour sister-in-law booked it I believe with Liko's directly.
|
Going to Old Lahaina Luau in Maui.
We booked it through our hotel's concierge. You can book it online. |
Snorkeling off of Wailea Beach on Maui.
While there a few years ago, snorkeling was fantastic a couple of hundred yards off shore. No crowds. Fish galore. Turtles on occasion. A bit south of W Beach, the lava shapes were gorgeous. |
- Going to Old Lahaina Luau on Maui - booked direct thru OLL website
- Whale watching - I've used Captain Steves, Pacific Whale Foundation & Maui Adventure Cruises - have booked some direct & have booked some thru www.barefoothawaii.com |
Helicopter tour of the Na Pali Coast on Kauai.
On Maui, sunrise at Haleakala or the road to Hana. Old Lahaina Luau was fun too. |
Helicopter ride in Kauai. Swimming at the beach in Kauai. I forget the name but there were caves around the cliff.
|
On Maui, the "Bike down Haleakala".
Also, try "Aloha Mixed Plate" for lunch, very inexpensive and on the beach in Lahaina. |
love reading about your favorites, keep them coming! They are helping me plan a remarkable trip.

I have three
1. Snorkeling off of Lanai. Used Trilogy for the tour. A great tour company. Will use them again when we go back 2. Road to Hana Drive. Read the "Maui Revealed" book ahead of time so we knew some of the off the beaten path places to check out. We loved it, but was tiring. 3. Playing tourist in Lahaina in the evenings. Having drinks, shopping, people watching, etc. |
We did a horseback ride with Princeville Stables which included a hike to a waterfall for a swim & picnic.
...Kipu ATV adventure with many movie sights pointed out and a look at a private beach accessible only by boat. ...Hiked Kaualau, drove Waimea Canyon snorkeled Ke'e took surfing lessons with Kayak Kauai... ...all of these were great, but the piece de resistance was the Blue Hawaiian helicopter ride. That would put Kalaulau Trail at 2nd. |

These are all Maui as I've yet to get to Kauai.
I very much enjoy the town of Lahaina and the drive up Haleakala mid-morning, neither required booking. I loved the Old Lahaina Luau and would be interested in Feast of Lele next time. Booked way in advance with the OLL. U'lalena, a show at Myth and Magic Theater was fantastic. We booked with a Pleasant Hawaiian discount ticket when we were already in Lahaina. |
For Maui -
1. Loved Road to Hana 2. Feast at Lele - make reservations through their website - http://www.feastatlele.com/ 3. Warren and Annabelle's - make reservations through their website - http://www.warrenandannabelles.com/ 4. Parasailing with UFO Parasail - Booked when we arrived http://www.ufoparasailing.com/ 5. Sitting on the beach at night under a full moon listening to the waves come in - absolutely free and unbelievably romantic - no booking required! |
There are so many things to do and I heartily recommend snorkeling and sailing along Napali coast, parasailing, short hikes (the first 20-30 minutes of the Kalalua trail from Ke'e beach rewards one with some great photo ops) but our most recent surprsingly satisfying activitiy was the Kipu Falls Safari with Outfitters Kauai http://www.outfitterskauai.com/
In our upper 50's and with a group including youngsters as young as 4, this trip suited everyone with kayaking, a hike through the rain forest, a hay ride, a very informative guide, a great lunch, one zipline ride, and swimming in an old swimming hole. You will see sides of Kauai you cannot see any other way. We did it to do "something different" after several trips to Kauai and have been singing its praises ever since. |
Surf lessons in Lahaina. If I can "get up", any one can.
