Your BEST Vacation

our best was 1 week in Lake Tahoe followed by Monterray Peninsula,Napa Valley and Sonoma followed by San Fran. and flying back to Ft. Lauderdale. Best Hotel of the trip was the Embassy Suites in Napa Valley. Don't remember where we ate except Fisherman' Wharf all great places.

Two weeks in Hawaii with my wife. Perfect weather every day, friendly people everywhere, great scenery and wildlife, lots of different things to do, and cultural / ethnic diversity.

No question it was the most romantic two weeks of our 19 years of marriage.

Ours was a family vacation to Sedona, AZ because the scenery was spectacular! We stayed in a time share resort called "Sedona Springs Resort". We took a trip up to the Grand Canyon (2 to 2 1/2 hrs) but we enjoyed the hiking in Sedona so much that we were happy we didn't stay in the Grand Canyon area. The diff. trails are so diversified. I would go back in a heart-beat.

No contest! Celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary in French Polynesia two years ago. Temperature at 85, in or out of the water, take-your-breath-away scenery at every turn, wonderful culture with warm, happy people, beaches, snorkeling, snail-paced life.....for me it's can't get better.

But I also have to say, Black Butte Ranch in central Oregon has an addicting feel that has brought our family there almost every year for the last 20.

My best vacation was hiking along the south shore of Crete. No crowds, no cars, no roads even, in some areas. Lots of history (ancient artifacts scattered along the trails)! Excellent food - the olives, fresh tomatoes, cucumbers and cheese in the Greek salads were to die for!

My favorite part of the trip was Marmara beach with its marble caves...you could swim inside the caves which "glowed" inside due to the angle and the sun and the colorful purple and blue algae. This place was in the miles from anywhere...accessible only on foot or by small boat. And there was actually a restaurant there!

On the same trip, we also stopped in Chania, Iraklion, and beautiful Santorini, as well as Athens (my least favorite part of the trip). Oh, and did I mention the PERFECT weather? 80 degrees without a cloud in the sky for 2 straight weeks (mid-September). I'd go back in a heartbeat.

ANYTIME, we are on Kauai. Everytime we go, I leave thinking it is the best. Why? Everyone who has been there knows. We've done less and less "stuff" each time we've gone and continue to love it. Can't wait till next trip.

12 days in Belize split between the Jungle and Beach. Was great because we did so much and it was not too expensive. We saw Mayan Ruins, Rain Forest, strange birds, ran rivers in a canoe, boated to off shore islands, laid on the beach. The locals were very friendly. It was our 1st trip out of the U.S. Belize is very user friendly. Stayed at duPlooy’s Jungle Lodge and Kittys Place. We will go back.

GP

Our best family vacation was in Figi. We stopped there upon our three week vacation in New Zealand. We stayed in an elegant five star hotel with excellent service and feeling like royalty. We had a great experience going to a native village.
www.gosmartravel.com

This is a US board and yet everyone alludes to a foreign place...hmmm. Actually, the best was in the british Virgin Islands. All the Hawaii fans don't know what they are missing.

The 5 1/2 weeks we spent driving to Alaska and back in 1992. It was a GREAT adventure. There was so much beauty and wild life around every turn.

Utahtea

Sailing along Maine's coast on the 95-foot American Eagle. Strong winds, good soup and hard work hoisting the sails.

Two weeks in Alaska -- mother and baby seal pups floating on chunks of ice, the thunder of glaciers calving, gazing at 3,000 ft cliffs in the mist and rain at Misty Fjords, a moose with her twins, the sun that never quite set, a huge fir tree full of bald eagles, rafting along a wild river past waterfalls, the huge flowers in Anchorage, the glaciers and placid waters of Prince William Sound, sled dog puppies at the Iditarod headquarters, eating incredible salmon and haddock...

Glacier National Park and Lake Louise in early June. Few people, gorgeous scenery and weather. The Post Hotel in Lake Louise was the best - very relaxing and pampering, excellent restaurant. Highly recommend this trip and can't wait to go back!

Ours was a vacation that we have done many times, yet this one time was absolutly magical- everything about it.

We had a house on the beach on Cape Cod. Weather was perfect, ocean was just right, beach was clean and soft, all friends/family got along (magic in and of itself!)

Ate chowder, lobster, steamers, corn on cob, fresh seafood, steaks on grill.
Went fishing and came home with great catch (put that on the grill same night!)

We also were able to miss traffic going to and fro! The best!!!!!!
