Yountville Restaurant's

We will be in Yountville in early Oct for 4 nights... we have reservations at Bistro Jeanty, Mustards Grill, Bouchon & Redd... We are waiting on a friend to get us in The Laundry .....We also heard Ad Hoc was something we should try ?? If you had to drop one of the 4 that I have reserved which would it be ?? Thank You all for your help with this trip !!!

I'd drop either Mustard's or Bouchon. I know, I know...everyone seems to love Mustard's but we've never been that impressed with the food and haven't enjoyed the 'tude of the service. Ad Hoc is also Thomas Keller's place, "homestyle" food. If you go to French Laundry, you might want to seek the variety of chefs.

Have eaten at Bistro Jeanty twice and found their food to be your basic French Bistro fare which is fine if that is what you would like to try but I found it boring. If there are a lot of people, it can be quite noisey.

I found the service at Mustards to be just fine and enjoyed the variety of dishes from which to choose. Haven't eaten at the others you mentioned.

Have you looked at their menus on their web sites:

has anyone had a meal at Ad Hoc ?? Or would you recommend another restaurant ??

Hi, we enjoyed a very nice meal at Ad Hoc this past March. There is only one menu offered each evening for everyone, so call ahead to see if they are are serving something you like. They now take reservations and the price is $45 for 4 courses, including a cheese and dessert course. :)

We had an amazing lunch at REDD also, outstanding food and service in a nice, upscale ambiance. Cheers! ***kim*** ((f))

We haven't eaten at Bistro Jeanty, so I can't comment, but of the other 3, I would drop Redd. We have eaten there twice and although the food was fine, we weren't overly impressed. We preferred the more casual atmosphere at Mustard's and Bouchon.

We like Bistro Jeanty best at lunch; in the evening things can get too crowded. Mustards Grill is fine at both lunch and dinner, but it's not in downtown Yountville.

We have had a few lunches also at Bistro Jeanty which is very good, REDD was amazing, tho. ***kim*** ((*))

Ad Hoc and Redd are two current favorites with Napa Valley diners and getting great reviews.

Two others worthy of note are L'Etoile at Chandon and La Toque in Rutherford. When these places are on, they are two of the very best in the Valley and the atmosphere in both is more relaxed and romantic than most of the Yountville eateries.

Our favorite is the restaurant at Domaine Chandon. We have been there twice for lunch as we love the view of the gardens during the day. Next trip in November, we plan to go with a group of friends for dinner. The food is inventive and the atmosphere and service are wonderful. See more at: www.domainechandon.com
