Youngstown, spring or fall?
Hi,

We're planning a trip to Youngstown, Ohio, and were wondering what time of year is best. We've gotten a lot of good advice from friends about restaurants, places to stay, things to see, but naturally any contribution on those scores would be very welcome. Would anyone recommend side trips to Warren or Akron. We have a couple of extra days at the end of our stay and are planning a day trip or two. Is Cleveland too far for one day? Thanks for all contributions.

Mark

Hi Selena,

Thanks so much for responding. The plans are well underway. We've decided to go later this year (the fall), so the question spring or fall? has been answered. We're hoping to catch some nice foliage, take in a horse show or two, spend time just strolling through town. For trips, we're heading east to Pennsylvania (instead of Cleveland). There's nice hill country there and I guess Pittsburgh is just 60 miles away. Has anyone been to the Flashdance museum? Mark

Have been watching this post for answers
and can't figure out Selena's --
inside joke? No matter where you travel, you can always find something
interesting to do. Pittsburgh is an
interesting city and I think you would
enjoy it - be sure to ride the incline
up to Mount Washington and the wonderful
view of the city. Cleveland is only an
hour away from Youngstown and you can visit the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame, the
Great Lakes Science Center, and enjoy the Flats area and its entertainment. Akron has Inventure Place and is an interesting visit for interactive displays. Sharon, PA isn't that far from Youngstown where they have the largest
shoe store in the U.S. You'll be amazed
at having to wait for a clerk the place is so crowded and at the selection they offer. Eat lunch at Quaker Steak & Lube there - fun eating! If nothing else, you will enjoy the fall foliage on the
PA hillsides on your ride from Youngstown to Pittsburgh

Thanks Sue for the helpful suggestions. You sound very familiar with the area. We'll check it out.

Mark
