Young, Restless, Need warm weather to be happy
 

hi everybody. im 20 years old, very restless and want to see the world. at least U.S.A for now. im looking to move to a new city(from toledo, ohio) with warm weather, maybe a beach closeby, midsized. any comments, suggestions, ANYTHING! would be appreciated.

There's only one perfect place for a 20 year old. San Diego.

No beach nearby, but trust me, check out Austin! It's an awesome place with great people. And, it's "nothing like Texas" as all my visitors tell me! Check it out.

San Diego has warmer weather that Toledo, but it's not a mid-sized city. It's the seventh biggest city in the US, much bigger that, for instance, Toledo.

Even though San Diego is a city, there are lots of areas that feel like a community; Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach. They all have their own infrastructure and you may never even get downtown or into the "burbs".

Just north of San Diego is Black Beach. Lotsa fun!

I graduated from S.D many a year ago. Now George, Blacks Beach BACK IN THE DAY was a nude beach. Is it still? Funny I rememeber that one! Tcash, what type of work do you do? I would think that would be important is where you move. San Diego is awesome, but one does have to live as well. How about Florida? Many midsize towns there. I am now living on the East Coast, and our adult children live in Florida. They like it very much!!

I'd recommend the Ft. Lauderdale/Miami area. warm year round and the beaches are great!

Need to consider what you can afford. My guess is that San Diego housing prices are pretty high? What kind of work do you do? That might help you decide.

Austin would be a thought, but it's a 3+ hour drive to the beach, 6+ to South Padre.

You need southern california. San Diego is nice, but don't rule out Orange County or LA.... Santa Monica, Manhattan Beach, etc.

Don't mean to sound like a parent, but if you're 20, are you in school? Lots of great education options in Southern Cal.

As far as the mid-sized city thing.... doesn't matter. If you live in Santa Monica, and can find a job or school nearby, your "territory" that you live, work, and shop in will be a small 10-mile radius. It is not like you need to know all of L.A.

I moved to L.A. when I was younger. I was scared to death... the only impression I had of L.A. was from watching "Cops". Turns out the L.A. I got to know was vibrant, fun, and had more entertainment options than I knew what to do with. Plus, what you don't hear is that you have lots of rugged mountains nearby if you want to get away from it all.

Never thought I'd be a commercial for Southern Cal, but I guess I am! I don't live there anymore but have fond memories of it.

You might want to try Cancun. They might have some deals now.
