You Might Be A Floridian, if.... :)

You might be a Floridian, if:

You exhibit a slight twitch when introduced to anyone with the first names of Charley, Frances or Ivan

Your freezer never has more than $20 worth of food in it any given time

You're looking at paint swatches for the plywood on your windows, to accent the house color

You think of your hall closet/saferoom as "cozy"

Your pool is more accurately described as "framed in" than "screened in"

Your freezer in the garage now only has homemade ice in it

You no longer worry about relatives visiting during the summer months

You too haven't heard back from the insurance adjuster

You now understand what that little "2% hurricane deductible" phrase really means

You're putting a collage together on your driveway of roof shingles from your neighborhood

You were once proud of your 16" electric chain saw

Your Street has more than 3 "NO WAKE" signs posted

You now own 5 large ice chests

Your parrot can now say" hammered, pounded and hunker down"

You recognize people in line at the free ice, gas and plywood locations

You stop what you're doing and clap and wave when you see a convoy of power company trucks come down your street

You're depressed when they don't stop

You have the personal cell phone numbers of the managers for: plywood, roofing supplies and generators at Home Depot on your speed dialer

You've spent more than $20 on "Tall white kitchen bags" to make your own sand bags

You're considering upgrading your 16" to a 20" chainsaw

You know what "Bar chain oil" is

You're thinking of getting your wife the hardhat with the ear protector and face shield for Christmas

You now think the $6000 whole house generator seems reasonable

You look forward to discussions about the merits of "cubed, block and dry ice"

Your therapist refers to your condition as "generator envy"

You fight the urge to put on your winter coat and wool cap and parade around in front of your picture window, when you finally get power and your neighbor across the street, with the noisy generator doesn't get electric

And finally, you might be a Floridian if

You ask your sister up north to start saving the Sunday Real Estate classifieds!

Hilarious, Scarlett. It could also be titled "You might live in the southeast US OR Caribbean if..."

Today, and on the weekends, my uniform is my bathing suit. My coverup is an old Hawaiian print shirt from Old Navy of my husbands.

OK, I'm smiling. I'm not laughing but I'm smiling. And I just got out of my swimsuit and my pool.

I spent the morning cleaning up at my Sunset beach house for my tenant rather than at my house. I still have debris from the trees on the ground. Tampa has had to hire extra crews with front-end loaders to clean up -- my garbage cans have been on the curb all week. Now they're empty -- I just can't wait to get out there and clean more debris lt;).

You might be a Floridian if...after all we've been through, you still think Florida is paradise .

Let's see if these smileys work...

Scarlett, your post is very funny! My uniform right now are warm sweats and fuzzy socks as it is fricken cold here! Tonight it will be in the 40's, so I KNOW I am NOT a Floridian .

Very funny post, scarlett- I'll be sure to forward this to my aunt and her family as soon as they have power again, and have dug out.
They're on the gulf coast, I'm sure they'll get a good laugh out of it in a couple more days, maybe.

sognatrice, I would give them more time. Sad to say, if we had not been skipped by this last horrible storm, I would not be laughing at these either.
Although one can be so fed up with the worry from what might happen to what did happen, that anything is good for a laugh.
Glad you all liked it. It was meant purely for laughs..
I think the idea of warm sweats and fuzzy socks sounds good, as I sit here in my tee and capris with the a/c on full blast~

GoTravel, I was in my swimsuit -- just like you b-( Do you have a pool?

There were a zillion people at the beach today. It was packed. There was a lot of debris on the beach in spots from the hurricanes. Don't you just hate all that nastiness on the beach? Harumph!

OneWanderingJew -- go gators! Eat'em up, gators. Gator Bait!!! That will be well worth a break from the WChannel.

That smiley face was me looking in the mirror at the middle-aged spread on my butt.
