Yosemite with little kids

We will be in Yosemite with a 6 and 4 year
old in the beginning of September for 3
days. Can anyone recommend the must sees
given the age of our kids? Also, has anyone ever stayed in any of the houses for rent
in the Yosemite West area?
thanks for any info.
Karen

we stayed at a place about 5 miles from the valley called....yosemite west condo's....i think (?) as you can see i'm trying to block out all memories of this place as they weren't fit for common farm animals. we bailed out of there and spent our last night at yosemite lodge....much better/and cheaper.
as far as the kiddies...well, theres hiking and.....hiking...the best trail IMO was nevada falls. we went in the winter so there might be some other activities that were closed when we went. theres mariposa groves w/ the giant redwoods nearby. also, if your up for a small roadtrip, theres the ghost town of Bodie, CA about 1 hr north east, traveling the beautiful tiagoa (sp?) pass.

Actually, we're thinking of staying
in a vacation home called Falcoln's
Nest located in the Yosemite West area. It is supposedly about 30 minutes from the valley. From the web site it looks beautiful and since we'll also have 4 other adults with us, the size and cost of the accomodations is perfect. Does anyone have any experience with this house or any of the other houses listed in the Yosemite West area? Is the location ok?

We also are forever trying to forget our renting at Yosemite West experience. It was depressing. It was a duplex or condo unit on the creek. Now we always reserve ahead of time. If we have to stay out of the park we go to Tenaya or the neigboring resort (Apple Hill?).If I recall Yosemite West advertises in Sunset and has many independent units. I am not familiar with the Falcon's Nest.

Was it the condo that was depressing or the whole yosemite west area?
thanks

all i can say is BEWARE.....i booked our condo based on what i saw on their website.......the pictures looked great.....reality was quite different. plus we had to pay in full and in advance on our credit card and there was no one onsite (that i know of) to complain to......they left the key to the condo under the door mat. lesson learned.....i'll never pay for a room in advance ever again.
the area was OK though........and i don't know if all the units were as bad as ours.

The apartment unit was a letdown. We also had seen pictures which were sure not of our unit! The thing with Yosemite is you are constantly feeling the need to go to the park. It is so beautiful and there is so much to see. I feel it is the discovery of the way water reflects, or an ice patch, or wildflowers more than actual places to go.
The outer areas are a way to GET there for me.The children will be thrilled no matter what as long as you share your excitement.
Our children at that age loved the train ride in a surrounding town. Can not remember what it is called. They show movies in Yosemite Lodge (sometimes children's ones).Have a great time!
