yosemite view lodge?
Has anyone stayed here?
What it like for location, meals and drinks in the evening? Cheers |
We stayed there in August and we were pleased with the location. It is just outside the park entrance. The rooms are large, many with balconys right on the river, very relaxing. We spent quite a bit of time on the balcony, reading and relaxing. I would for sure go for a river view room. There was a fireplace in our room, but being summer, we didn't use it. There are several swimming pools (one indoors)and hot tubs. There are two restaurants, one of which is a pizza place, but we did not eat at either. One reason was that they were pretty busy and we were in the mood for quiet. There is also a deli. Our room had a small stove, and refrigerator, with a small stock of pots and dishes, so we just prepared our own food. We enjoyed our stay and would go again. Have fun!

We stayed there last fall and I
agree with everything Gloria said. Be sure to go for a top floor (3rd?) River View-the balconies are great and they have fabulous large jacuzzi tubs in the bathroom. The restaurant is decent and there is a full bar. The pizza place is quite good as well. There is a cute general store just down the road for supplies-the deli is a tad pricey. Would definetly return! R5 |
Thanks dudes, just booked it and cancelled the Miners Inn.
Double the price but I'm hoping twice as nice! |
Agree--we stayed there in May and found it easily accessible to all areas of Yosemite. You are limited to meals no matter where you stay. The restaurant was good (had a great buffet breakfast)and would make you box lunches to take with you. There is another restaurant down the road about 8 miles or so at the other lodge in the area. I would stay in a River View room too if you spend any time at all in your room (we didn't, but our room had every amenity we needed and we basically just slept there). Have a great trip.

The previous posters have all given you accurate information. One other plus about the place is that, as the closest accommodations outside the park, it's closer to Yosemite Valley than a lot of (if not most of) the accommodations within the park. It'll be an easy and scenic drive into the park each morning.

It may make you feel better
to know that it's a hour-long windy road drive from Mariposa to the Arch Rock entrance. We almost made the mistake of staying in Mariposa and were sooooo happy we didn't have to do that drive twice a day! R5 R5 |
And there is a bus connection between the view lodge and Yosemite valley (Yosemite lodge).
