Yosemite to Napa Valley
I received great feedback on driving from Santa Cruz to Yosemite. Thank you! Now I am trying to map our drive from Yosemite to Napa Valley (St. Helena). Looks a bit more complicated. High level mapquest directions are: Head West on 108, CA-99 towards Sacremento, CA-4 towards Stockton, I5 towards Sacremento, CA-12, CA-29.
Do any fodorites have other suggestions? Thanks! |
Can you tell us what day of the week and about what time you want to do this drive?
|
It's a good route - not as bad as it appears. Just review the map and have it handy while driving.

Hi, we'll leave Yosemite on Thursday, Oct. 5th, between 8-9AM. Thanks!

Hi Suzanne12, we did something similar a few years ago. I glanced at a map and looks like pretty much the route we took. Agree with elnap29, not as bad as it looks, but there were 4 of us in the car and somehow we missed a turn and ended up on a really beautiful road (with lots of S curves that made me car sick) and took us way out of the way. Not really sure how it happened or exactly where, but none of us noticed that we missed our turn. Just watch carefully and you'll have a beautiful trip. Though how can you top Yosemite?

So my memory doesn't always work! Now that I think of it, we had no trouble with the route to Napa. Our mess up came AFTER leaving the area trying to get to Sausalito. The other thing I remember was the slow traffic on the road linking one Napa town to the next.
But I'm guessing you won't have any trouble with your route. |
The signs you will follow leaving Yosemite will be 120. 120 merges with 108 later in the drive. Happy travels.
