Yosemite Nationa Park, CA

I am considering a trip To Yosemite NP in October. Is this a good time to go? Is it very crowded at this time of the year? I have 3 days to spend, is this sufficient? Where is the best place to stay?

The trip is planned for the first week in October.

There's never a bad time to see Yosemite. Note, however, that (1) waterfalls will be trickling at best and non-existent at worst and (2) a snow storm MIGHT close roads for a day or so.

> Is it very crowded at this time of the year?
It's one of the least crowded times of the year.

> I have 3 days to spend, is this sufficient?
Three lifetimes would not be sufficient to experience ALL of Yosemite, but three days will be more than enough to see the highlights.

> Where is the best place to stay?
Depends on what type of lodging you are looking for and what amenities you require. Within the Park is clearly best, but vacancies are often hard to come by. Here's a link to several choices:

I woud second Paul's comments--EArly October is a good time, I think-- I would suggest going before most of the roads are closed due to winter, and I doubt that will happen by early oct. but you never know. It's relatively uncrowded then.

Yosemite Lodge is the decent generic place to stay in the park. but it therefore does fill up in advance.

Early October typically still has warm days. Kids are back in school reducing crowds. Waterfalls are slow. I would still make reservations NOW.
