Yosemite/Monterey question
Traveling to Monterey/Big Sur area in late April to early May for 4 days and then on to Yosemite for another 4 days. Is this a good time to rent a convertible weather wise or am I still getting into too much cold weather? We don't mind chilly, but don't want frostbite!

A convertable should be fine for the Monterey area. There tends to be more sun that time of year than in the summertime due to the summer fog. Although sometimes it rains that time of year. As for Yosemite, the elevation is pretty high, and there may still be snow on the groud that time of year. It would definitely be chilly in a convertable, but I don't think you will get frostbite.

If it costs significantly more, I say forget it. I think you'll want the top up most of the time. On the other hand, the views up in Yosemite would be great from a convertible. Snow usually starts to melt April/early May and the waterfalls are gorgeous at that time.

Always a week of rain in April in Monterey.

You can't count on the weather at all. We've been to Yosemite in April and I wore shorts and another time we had a couple of inches of snow in May.

Come prepared for all weather!

Utahtea
