Yosemite lodging with dog

We're thinking of a long weekend in Yosemite and are thinking about hiking half dome. I'd like to stay at the Ahwahnee but I noticed they don't allow pets. Cost isn't a factor, but would like the property to be nice and in somewhat close proximity to Half Dome and other hikes.

Thanks

Half Dome is a 10-hour hike, and your dog is not allowed on the trails. Where will you leave your pet while you are hiking? That is a long time to leave him or her alone in a hotel room, even if it is allowed. Shouldn't you reconsider your plan?

There are kennels in Yosemite Valley.

So that answers the lodging question---no pets in any of the park lodging facilities. The OP would have to stay at one of the hotels outside the park.

Thanks Utahtea. Enzian - FYI wherever we've stayed with our dogs the bellman will walk them for you mid-day so they're well taken care of.

The Tenaya Lodge just outside of Yosemite is a nice choice for lodging. Their canine package sounds nice for your pet. Even if you can't stay at the Ahwahnee, go for a meal there. We had a very nice brunch there on New Year's Day. ***kim*** ((#))

Yes, the canine package sounds great.

But they will have to pay an extra $10 per hour for pet-sitting---you can't leave the dog unattended in the room at all. So for the all-day hike that's an extra $100 or more, plus the $75 cleaning fee for the room. Actually they will be away from the room much more than 10 hours, by the time they add driving time into the park, and the shuttle from the parking lot to the trailhead at Happy Isles, and then back to the car, and drive back to the hotel.

I love dogs and I love hiking Half Dome, but it just doesn't seem like the two are very compatible.
