Yosemite Lodge at the Falls...how is it?

I booked the Lodge for 2 nights this summer. We usually stay at Curry Village and we have stayed in a variety of cabins there. I don't mind Curry, but the central bath and all isn't the best.
I've never been able to book the Lodge before, it's always been booked. Well now I've booked it and now I'm not so sure if it's worth it, cost wise. The reviews aren't so hot, but maybe having your own bath is worth it. And not hearing your neighbors snore!
Anyway, I'd love to hear any and all opinions out there. Thanks.

I've stayed in the main hotel building and in one of the cabin/out buildings. Both were perfectly fine. The rooms are pretty basic. From what I can tell the bad reviews on places like trip advisor are from travelers who want to pay the same rate as your basic interstate highway exit Motel 6, claiming the rooms aren't any better so why should one pay more.

I don't mind roughing it (Curry Village), but the comfort of a regular hotel room in the heart of Yosemite Valley is worth whatever price we paid.

There is, or at least used to be a bus parking lot between the lodge and the falls, and in some of the rooms closest to there you could hear buses idling. Not sure if that's still the case, but you can always ask for a room more away from the road.

We stayed at the Lodge and would stay there again. The location was perfect, the room very clean and I could never stay anywhere without my own bathroom. Also, I heard that now they have TV which they did not have when we were there and we love watching the news after retiring for the night.

The Yosemite lodge rooms are very convenient to several types of eateries -the cafeteria,a restaurant and a lounge where you can also order some food. It is great to have these choices so close by. We have stayed at the Stoneman Lodge at Curry which is also very nice.

Yosemite Lodge seems to have a variety of accomodations, all called Yosemite Lodge. Our room waas spacious, the decor very typical of a national park. It was clean and comfortable, and we had a very nice balcony with a pleasant view. (We had the misfortune of having very loud neighbors that partied with relatives on their patio late at night and again in the early morning, but that could have happened anywhere.)

The Lodge is also close to the pool which might be refreshing mid-summer. I'd go for the Lodge over Curry Village realizing that the accommodations will be comfortable but not deluxe.

Our rooms have all been pretty spacious and nothing like Motel 6. Despite its age it is suprisingly clean. I think J62 is right about the TA travelers. That's their problem all the time. They think they are paying for luxury accomodations and they are paying for location. It's awfully expensive to run that place. Everything (supplies, service people, etc) costs more to get it into the valley.

Thank you so much for all the feedback. It looks like YL is worth the extra $. If I could snag one of those Lodge rooms at Curry one of these days I'd be a happy girl!
