Yosemite from Bouder Creek,CA
I am looking for the best way to Yosemite high country from Boulder Creek CA.
|
Maybe some people aren't aware of where Boulder Creek is located.
What if you use a more-known city name such as, Santa Cruz, or San Jose? Also, what time of year? Given the closure of Tioga Pass each year, this is helpful to plot your course. |
I live in San Jose, which although is not far from Boulder Creek, it is an entirely different world - LOL.
Anyway... When we go to Yosemite, we take Hwy 140 into the valley. From our house, we go south on 101 to Gilroy, take 152 east past Los Banos, then I think it is 59 to Merced, and then 140 into Yosemite Valley. From Boulder Creek, I would go down the hill to Santa Cruz, and then take Hwy 1 south and pick up 152 in Watsonville. To get to the high country, Hwy 120 is the most direct route since you don't even have to drop down into the valley. From Boulder Creek, I would come down into San Jose, then take 680 to 580 to 205, then catch Hwy 120 out past Tracy and take it all the way in. |
J_Correa : I agree with your first statement. I lived in Santa Cruz for 3 years. That, too, is another world. Also lived in a very rural part of SJ that could compare to Boulder Creek in a few ways.
After searching the website : nps.gov/yose/trip/driving.htm I found driving directions. I stand by my earlier request for more information regarding time of day, day of week, season of travel to provide best way to Yosemite high country. When is really an important component of the answer. Best regards, |
TripleSec - I grew up in Santa Cruz and my family still lives in the area so we are over there all the time :)
