Yosemite Falls Lodge in the park or Cedar Lodge w/ budget constraints

I need a little input as to whether I should keep my 1 night reservation in Yosemite Lodge in the valley or opt for a 2 nights reservation at the Cedar Lodge. Due to budget constraints we can not afford to stay in the valley two nights. At this time I have a reservation on Wednesday night June 5th for the Valley falls lodge and a reservation in Mariposa Lodge for Thursday night. Friday we will be heading back to Oakland. We would like to see Yosemite as much as possible in our short time but wonder how the drive to El Portal's Cedar lodge might be for two days. Is it safe to drive after dark in the event we don't leave the park until after sunset? Would you suggest I cancel my Yosemite Valley Fall Lodge room on Wed. and the Mariposa lodging on Thursday and just stay at the Cedar Lodge both nights? Thanks for any help or suggestions

Can't advise you except that we love the location of Yosemite Lodge at the Falls. It's great. I say: "Don't miss it."

If it was me, I'd stretch the budget just a tad and stay one night at Yosemite Lodge and one night at Cedar Lodge.

Keep your reservation at Yosemite Falls. Location is everything.

Thanks everyone, yes, to stay at Cedar the second night wouldn't be so bad either.

Isn't there some sort of road construction issue with the Mariposa? Repair of a landslide or some such? Or has that been resolved?

Even w/o construction, Mariposa is too far to make a good base for Yosemite Valley. It is about a 90 minute drive each way. That is why I suggested Yosemite Lodge one night and Cedar Lodge the other night.

The OP mentioned she/he had a night booked at Mariposa is the reason I asked.

Agree, Mariposa is out of the way.

How much is Mariposa lodging? Can you switch to 2 nights in Yosemite? If not, I'd do Yosemite + Cedar.
