Yosemite - early Oct
How are the falls in Yosemite looking right now? We'll be there Oct. 8 - 10th.
|
Yosemite National Park has a website with daily update on weather, waterfalls, foliage, road closing, etc...
|
Just passed through there last weekend, didn't stop, but I swear I think that Bridalveil was DRY! The whole Sierra is very dry right now. Even the water level in the Merced River looked low, and most of Lyell creek up in the Tuolomne (sp?!?) area was dry.

The NPS website says that as of today Yosemite falls is "dry".That means it most certainly will also be dry in October as well.
Here is a link with up to date info. http://www.nps.gov/yose/now/conditions.htm |
Yes, the website says Yosemite Falls are dry but Vernal, Nevada, and Bridelveil have low flow.
Unless you hit the area immediately after a rain, it will probably be about the same. We've been in October and November and it's not the time to go to see the waterfalls, but the area is still beautiful! Utahtea...thinking about being in Yosemite about the same time ;) |
We were there last weekend - Bridalveil had a trickle and Yosemite Falls had no water. Yosemite is still a beautiful place, but I did miss the falls this trip. We were able to put our chairs in the middle of the Merced River and sit with our feet in the water and watch the climbers on El Capitan.
