Yosemite Camping/reasonable cabin

I was wondering if anyone could guide me to find info on camping in Yomseite or cheap cabin rentals. We are planning on staying there for 2 nights and the Sequoia forests a few nights also and don't want to spend a fortune.

We've never been there so we don't have any ideas as to where is the best part of the parks to stay near.

Any ideas would be great.

From your Lake Tahoe post, it looks like you will be going in October. If that is so, you might still be able to get camping reservations right in Yosemite Valley, mid-week, It's worth a try:

Do you know if they rent tent/cabins? we will be flying in and would rather not have to bring camping equipment.

At the parks around here we can rent these "rustic" cabins for about$60 a night. You get cots and a battery operated lantern. It's VERY rustic :)

Camp Curry tent/cabins include all bedding, linens, towels and electric lights. The showers are in a "shower block" and there is a dining hall. No cooking or food in the cabins/tents.

In Oct for $78 per night you can stay in the Curry Village Tent Cabins. These are canvas sided cabins that are heated in the winter. The cabins include all linens and you have access to a central bathroom with showers. The tent cabins can accomodate up to 5 people. Here's the link to make reservations:

Select your dates and number of guests in the right hand column and click go.

Then click on the drop down "Hotel" menu and click on "Curry Village" a refreshed screen will come back and you can click on the "Select Room Type" drop down menu, click on the tent cabin with the number of people you need and then you can look at the calendar for the dates you selected to see the cost for the room type you selected. The cost will appear in blue (tiny print though).

Thanks everyone. I will look into it. It sounds like something fun to do. I am sure that is a greatway to experience the park :)
