Yosemite bug or park cabin
Has anyone ever stayed at Yosemite Bug and know what it would be like?( for a family in December, as a base for a trip to Yosemite park) and how would it compare with park cabins (if they are open in December?)
Thanks, Claire

Claire,

I've never stayed at either of these cabins but you should know that the Yosemite Bug is located in Midpines, CA

Yosemite Bug is a SLOW driving 45 minutes away from Yosemite Valley. Being winter the days will be short and you won't have as much time to spend in the valley if you have to drive back before dark.

Just something you should keep in mind.

Utahtea

Thankyou for the information Utahtea, its so good to be able to get local advice. Do you know of any economical accomodation in or near the park for a family, in December?, just so we'll be near the park for a day trip? or who we could ask about it?
claire,

If you are not going to stay in the park, then I think Midpines is about as close as you're going to get.

I don't know what the price difference between the cabins at Yosemite Bug and the Curry Village in Yosemite Valley. I do know the Curry Village cabins do have heat.

http://www.yosemitepark.com/html/accom_curry.html

We're going camping in Yosemite in our RV the first week in November. Already have our reservations:)

Utahtea

Please!! write a review of your camping(and travel)experiences there? I'd love to read it.
Also would you be able to ask the locals about when it gets light and dusk there in December (or could you give a fair guess now?)
and thanks, I'll look up the Curry Cabins too
Thanks Claire
