Yosemite Avoiding the Crowd advice...
Is there anyway to really feel secluded and away from the crowds during the second week/weekend of july? Our trip is Thursday, Friday, Saturday & Sunday. Is this just too idealistic and we should expect to be around a ton of people all the time?

Yosemite is a tourist destination. There will be many people and tourist buses in the valley floor visiting the usual places. Your best bet will be to take a hike. Get yourself a Yosemite Book and a trail map.
|
To get you started, take a look at the Yosemite Notional Park Site:
http://www.nps.gov/yose/planyourvisit/valleyhikes.htm The second map "printable hiking brochure for Yosemite" shows more details than the first one. |
Thanks for all of that! We will definitely look up some good hiking (starting early with lots of coffee & a power bar)! We were planning on going this weekend (June 9-14), but something came up and we had to switch our trip. I think this upcoming weekend would have been a better choice (as far as crowds and waterfalls go) - but oh well!

Do you have any idea what are your must see's in Yosemite?
You could start another thread that would attract more specific attention to your question and maybe title it "what are you favorite Yosemite hikes" or "what hikes do you recommed in Yosemite" "help with Yosemite hikes" and you might get some helpful responses and good ideas. Be prepared to say how experienced a hiker you are and what types of hikes you are looking for - moderate, difficult. You could try researching first by just putting Yosemite in the search engine and see what you find. |
Awesome suggestion - I will definitely do that...thanks!
