Yosemite accommodation

Found a good price for The Homestead B & B in Ahwahnee from Hotels.com. Has anyone stayed there?

I'd never heard of this place so I checked the website. It does look really nice... but do you realize it is over and hour and 15 minutes to the valley? If possible, I would want to be a lot closer to the park... unless you're lucky enough to visit fairly often.

Yes. It is not really the "season" for Yosemite, but I would not like to be an hour and fifteen minutes from Yosemite Valley. Curry Villagein the valley, is offering a deal on lodgings in either a tent cabin or a Housekeeping Camp unit. (cooking is only allowed in a Housekeeping Camp Unit).

But you sleep in a bed and have lights and electricity. Near showers, laundry restaurants, grocery, etc. etc.

Starts at $29/night, valid from 9/25 through111/22. www.YosemiotePark.com or (559) 253-5605.

I'd say it depends - is the trip to visit Yosemite, or to just stay in a rural B&B?

If it is to see Yosemite -- this isn't the place. It would not be considered "Yosemite accommodation". It is on hwy 49 a very long/slow drive from the Valley. But if you just want a nice place to stay - then it would be OK.

Did you think because it was in Ahwahnee it was near the Ahwahnee Hotel?

I feel I must mention the tent and housekeeping cabins are very rustic in comparison to a B & B although the valley location is a plus. I usually prefer to opt for lodge accomodations in the park if possible.

We always stay in Mariposa. They have several nice motels and it's not far from the park. Paul

Thanks for your help, didn't think it was such a distance away. Will try to find something closer.
