yosemite accommodation
So I'm starting another thread, one of many, for a big USA trip. We want to stay in yosemite national park for 2 nights. Looking at curry village in the cabins with bathrooms or the yosemite lodge at the falls. We do camp at home so thats not an issue and they seem to be similar prices. Just want to be right in the park not in the towns located on the outskirts. Thanks

Staying in the park is good, and the Curry Village cabins are comfortable & well located.

Definitely, stay in the park, in the valley. You are traveling next Sept. so it will be nice although the waterfalls will be a trickle. Weekdays will not be as crowded. Fall will be nipping the air.
Since you have such an extensive trip, here is a link to a report from several years ago. It may help you with planning. Shane has other trip reports for other areas which may help, so click on his name. http://www.fodors.com/community/unit...lden-state.cfm |
And here's my report on a trip to Yosemite last November - focus is on hikes.

Definitely stay at Yosemite Lodge if you can. I don't mind Curry Village, but the rooms at Yosemite Lodge are nicer, more comfortable and (mostly) quieter.

I second Janis' reply- we stayed at the lodge and thought it was fine. Close to everything, there's food there, and you can take the shuttle to visit other areas.

We are coming from San Francisco so is there an easier one to get to than the other or do you enter the park through the same way for both? Also how long approx to drive from sf to Yosemite?
|
Both are on the floor of Yosemite Valley - the route would be identical.
From SF (depending on traffic and where exactly you are starting from) the drive will take approx 4 hours. You would go via hwy 120. |
