Yolo/Colusa counties

When we drive from Seattle to Suisun City we usually leave 101 and take 20 past Clear Lake to catch I-5 at Williams and then down to Suisun. Next trip, we are thinking of leaving 20 east of Clear Lake and taking California 16 down to intercept 505. Anyone know anything about the area through which 16 passes? Scenic? Bad road?

It isn't a bad road and parts are fairly scenic. There is a casino/resort in the Capay Valley but that shouldn't impact traffic unless there is a big event/concert going on.

Janis is correct. Hwy. 16 would probably be better than Hwy 20. You could also take 101 to Santa Rosa, to Sonoma then Suisun City.

Thanks to both. Michelle, I have run into dead-stop traffic on 101 going through Santa Rosa often enough that I now avoid it entirely.

Another scenic way would be cut off 101 at Geyserville or Healdsburg and go thru the Alexander Valley/Napa/Suisun.

Know what you mean about Santa Rosa. You have to hit it just right and it always seems like there construction on 101.

Good luck on your trip!!

9/25-MichelleY is right--beautiful vineyards especially in Fall. Leaves all sorts of color.
