Yet another yellowstone lodging post!
We are booked for three nights at Roosevelt cabins (Roughrider) but are thinking of changing our last night to another lodging. At the moment we are able to book Old Faithful Lodge cabin or Lake Lodge for the last night. Old Faithful Inn is fully booked.
What do you think would be the best one to stay at? We felt that as we would be travelling on to Jackson when we leave Yellowstone, if we move on for our last night in the Park we would not only save backtracking but would also have a head start when we leave. |
Dotty6,
Sounds like a good plan. 2 nights at Roosevelt and 1 at either Lake or OFI. Both locations are great. We stayed in the Snow Lodge at OF and the room was really nice. Best of all, you're right in the heart many geysers and walking around on the boardwalk is a truly unique experience, especially at dawn. I'd choose OF. But the Lake Lodge looked lovely - we didn't stay there but checked out the Lake Hotel (for lunch) and the Lodge just to peak. Yellowstone is remarkable - you'll love it! |
I agree that the OF Snow Lodge is very nice. If you would like to stay at the OF Inn keep checking back with reservations. Six months before my trip it was fully booked, but I was persistent and about a week before my trip I was able to book two nights. It really is a unique and beautiful hotel. Have a great trip! I love Yellowstone and Grand Teton NP!

Thanks sharondi and wtm003. I have booked Old Faithful Lodge cabin for our last night & will do as you suggested wtm003 and keep trying for a cancellation for OFI or, as an alternative the Snow Lodge.
Once again, many thanks for your advice. |
Old Faithful area has more to do, endless boardwalks, geysers, geothermal odditis, plus the wildlife. It is also a beehive of activity, many people in/ out to see OF. Nice food court at the snow lodge. I vote for OFL, Snow lodge, cabins, etc. We have stayed at the Lake lodge cabins, its also a nice area
