Yellowstone winter wildlife/Bozeman

We'll be visiting Bozeman in Feb and would like to spend a couple of days in Yellowstone. I'd be interested in a wildlife tour - any recommended guides? I'll probably stay at Mammoth Hot Springs, but is there a nicer place in Gardiner we should consider?

drbeier,

I live in northern UT, so I get to visit the area about every other year. This past summer I did some camping in Yellostone, but also visited an area new to me, Paradise Valley, MT. The valley is just out the north entrance, Gardiner is at it's southernmost end.

It's gorgeous all year long! Two places I stayed that I would highly recommend -

The Yellowstone River Cabins - at the north end of the valley, just 4 mi. from Livingston

The Paradise Gateway B&B, near Emmigrant

If you are willing to drive a bit further, they are worth it. Both are literally right on the Yellowstone River. Both have web sites.

Have fun

drbeier,

I recommend staying at the Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel. It should be open then. There is not a nicer place in Gardiner. I believe that snow coach tours emanate from there. You can also drive yourself out to Lamar Valley for wolf watches and go on to Silver City & Cooke City.

Enjoy your visit!

Doo-
I was hoping you would reply. Tripadvisor reviews of Mammoth Hot Springs Hotel are pretty lukewarm - admiring a facility built in the '30s but noting it seems to not have been updated since then. Nothing better in Gardiner? Oh well. We're not that fussy.

Daughter is admitted to MSU so we are coming to visit.

drbeier,

When in February are you going? My husband and I will be in Yellowstone the 3rd through the 9th, with the nights of February 3 and 7-9 at Mammouth.

Should be a fabulous trip.

Hi, doo.

We'll arrive 2/16 (President's Day). We need to spend a day on campus so we are planning a only a couple days at Yellowstone and a couple days skiing at Big Sky or Bridger.

As long as you are going to experiance part of the park stay in Mammoth. Should be able to view elk out your room window.
