Yellowstone vacation: help needed!
Message: Hi folks! I am from Brazil and I am planning a trip to the U.S. and I have the chance to visit the Yellowstone Natl' Park in March. I would be going with my wife and 2 small kids (3 & 1 year old). Is it worth going during this time of the year or would it be too cold? Are there many visitors during this time of the year? Would it be a better idea to choose a different location? I always wanted to visit Yellowstone and now I have the chance (got free tickets due to saved mileage) but I am worried about the weather. Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

I have never been to Yellowstone in March so I can't answer your question with knowledge. Is it possible for you to visit a couple of months later? It is a great destination but I am unsure of March. I know there are those on this board that will have a better answer than I so I hope they see your question.

March might not be a very good month to visit. The "road closures" section of the Yellowstone National Park website, http://www.nps.gov/yell/planvisit/or...l/roadopen.htm, indicates that a lot of the roads are still closed in March. Good luck in making it to Yellowstone - it's a fabulous park!

Only one park entrance will be open-you will have to ski or snowmobile to see the park. But, the wildlife viewing is good and the crowds are small. Do a google search on "yellowstone in winter." There is a LOT of information out there.

Thanks, I knew I could count on you guys! I guess I'll switch destinations and will probably consider The Grand Canyon.

You might want to consider a side trip to Zion National Park too.

The Baltimore Sun travel section has a long article on winter in Yellowstone in yesterday's edition. Their website is www.baltimoresun.com. It had lots of useful info.
