Yellowstone - Tower Falls Trail

I read last year that the Tower Falls trail was not open to the bottom. Something about safety I think.

Has anybody been there lately and is it still closed to the bottom?

It wasn't open in June. Last I heard there is a pretty good chance that it will not be reopened. Too bad -- it was a really nice short trail. Might try asking on the ynet forum.

I called the cnyon Visitirs Center and was told the trail to the bottom of the falls is permanently closed.

It was closed two years ago when we were there in June. I thought it was due to the presence of Rosie and her cubs. She is in that area a lot. The fall is very very pretty and we did get some good photos of her. You can still see the falls very well from the viewpoint. I would still try to see it, even if the trail is closed. The Roosevelt/Tower area is where we saw a lot of wildlife.
Some of the trails to the mudpots were closed and some of the trails at Canyon area were closed. Even with a couple of closures, you will still have plenty to see and do. I know that you are probably trying to finalize your hiking plans. Don't you go here in a week or two? I am looking forward to hearing what you think about Yellowstone/Tetons.
