Yellowstone - Old Faithful Inn
 

This may seem trivial but we try to never assume anything.
Can anyone tell me what ammenities to expect (or not) at OFI, i.e. shampoo, soap, hair dryer.

I have never been there, and I do not wish to be a wise guy, but why not phone them and ask them?

I'd definitely ask about the hair dryer, but every other national park lodge we've stayed in has provided those itty-bitty bars of soap and teeny-tiny bottles of shampoo. We didn't stay in the OFI but in the nearby Snow Lodge.

We stayed in the Old Faithful Inn many years ago. Don't remember if they had soap etc but would imagine they did.

The big lodge is beautiful. We had a room that was not in the lodge but in a add on section.

Read the reviews and make sure you get a room you will be happy with. Some rooms do not have their own bathrooms.

We stayed there last month in a room in the main lodge with private bath. The bathroom did have soap, shampoo, and a hair dryer. We had a bath tub/shower, but some in our group only had a shower stall, not a tub. The room also had a Keurig and coffee and tea for it.

Many of the rooms in the "Old House" (the older and central part of the building) only have sinks--you have to go to the showers and toilet. Our room had nice, big bars of soap in the shape of bears! Can't speak for the newer rooms with private baths.

I would like to strongly suggest you ask to NOT be located on the ground floor. People forget it is a hotel and think it is just a tourist attraction. They walk up and down the halls at all hours of the night being very noisy. Once, when I was coming back to my room from the shower upstairs (another thing--there are no showers on the ground floor), I had to walk, with my hair up in a big white towel, through a tour group on a tour of the inn to get to my room!

I always take a hair dryer with me. If they don't have soap and shampoo you can always buy those in one of the two general stores at OF (one is right next door to the Inn).

You will find all at the Old Faithful Inn. Shampoo, conditioner and lotion per usual hotels. Can't remember the brand but good quality. There will be a little bear shaped soap waiting for you as well...and you can buy more in the gift shop for 99 cents each. There is a hair dryer in the bathroom as well.

Enjoy! Just was there a few days ago in a 3rd floor room overlooking the geyser. I had a geyser view room on the 1st floor a few years ago and didn't have problem with noise.

I went on the free tour and got a look at the oldest (non-bathroom) rooms. There's a sink in the room but for those rooms you do have to go to a bathroom in the hall. Just those rooms. The majority of the 330 rooms do have en suite bathrooms.

The Old Faithful Inn is one of my favorite places in the USA!
